Ajaccio’s narrow streets are steeped in Napoleonic history, with notable sites like Maison Bonaparte, the ancestral home of the infamous commander. In the mountainous countryside, vineyards, extensive hiking trails, and wild boar (which often ends up in the charcuterie) await discovery. The Ajaccio Market showcases an array of fresh produce including honey, organic wine, and aromatherapy oils sourced from the surrounding hills. Serving as a gateway to Corsica’s picturesque beaches and the hidden treasures of the Mediterranean mountains, Ajaccio invites exploration of its forests, canyons, and secluded coves.
