Day 1

Day Flight Qantas

This itinerary includes return flights with Qantas. On the way over you go via Johannesburg and on the way back you fly direct into Sydney, onward connections available for the same price.

Day 2

Matjiesfontein, South Africa

Awaken to the tranquil beauty of the Hex River Valley unfolding outside your window. Step back in time in Matjiesfontein, a Victorian oasis that captivates with its old-world charm and rich history. Wander through the lovingly preserved village, indulge in the quietude of high tea, and as the train moves on, gather for a sumptuous dinner under the sweeping expanse of the starlit sky.

Day 3

Fancourt

Non-Golfers:

Begin your adventure with a journey through South Africa’s natural wonders on Day 3. Following breakfast, take a scenic drive to the ancient Cango Caves, where you’ll explore the vast limestone chambers and their striking formations. Later, venture to Oudtshoorn for an enriching experience at an ostrich farm, learning about these fascinating birds and the history of ostrich farming in the region. Afterward, traverse the dramatic Outeniqua Pass with its panoramic views en route to Fancourt. Here, check into your accommodation before enjoying a sumptuous dinner set against the backdrop of Smart Casual elegance.

 

Golfers:

Embark on a thrilling day as you head to Fancourt, a premier golfing destination nestled in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route. After an early breakfast aboard the train, prepare for a day on the lush greens of the world-renowned Montagu or Outeniqua golf courses at Fancourt. Surrounded by the majestic Outeniqua mountains, the courses offer a perfect blend of challenging golf and breathtaking scenery. Day 4

Knysna, South Africa

Non-Golfers:

Commence the day with a nourishing breakfast before embarking on a ferry ride across the serene Knysna Lagoon. Relish a delightful lunch on this tranquil excursion. Afterward, you’ll enjoy a brief stop at Oudebosch before rejoining the train in Port Elizabeth.

Golfers:

After breakfast, golf enthusiasts will be transferred to either the Pezula or Simola golf courses for a day spent on some of South Africa’s top fairways. The golfing experience concludes with a lunch before meeting up with the rest of the group on the train in Port Elizabeth.

Day 5

Addo Elephant Park & Humewood - A Split Adventure

Non-Golfers:

Begin the day with breakfast before embarking on a safari through Addo Elephant Park. Search for the park’s famed elephants and other wildlife. Post-safari, enjoy the relaxing journey back to the train for a restful evening and dinner.

Golfers:

After breakfast, golfers head to the prestigious Humewood Golf Club. Spend your day on one of South Africa’s top golf courses, with challenging links and stunning views. Reunite with the group later for dinner on board as the train heads towards the next destination.

Day 6

Bloemfontein - The Heart of the Free State

All Guests:

The day is spent in Bloemfontein, where everyone can appreciate the charm of this historical city. Visit key landmarks, enjoy the local culture, and dine on regional specialties before returning to the luxury of the train.

Day 7

Clarens & Golden Gate National Park - Artistic Flair and Natural Splendor

All Guests:

Enjoy a serene morning in Clarens, known for its artistic community and galleries. After lunch, the journey continues to the breathtaking landscapes of Golden Gate National Park. Marvel at the panoramic views before retiring to the train for dinner.

Day 8

Spionkop & Champagne Sports Resort - Stories of Battles and Tee-offs

Engage with the historic tales of the Battle of Spionkop. After lunch, choose between an afternoon game drive or relaxation at the lodge before returning to the train.

Golfers:

Golfers will enjoy breakfast before departing for a day at the Champagne Sports Resort. Revel in a round of golf in a picturesque setting, followed by lunch, then meet back on the train in Estcourt.

Day 9

Durban, South Africa

Non-Golfers:

Discover Durban with a city tour, botanical garden visit, and lunch at Umhlanga’s beachfront. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure before tea on the train as it travels along the coastline.

Golfers:

Golfers split off for a round at either the Durban Country Club or Beachwood, followed by lunch and rejoining the train for a tranquil evening journey.

Day 10

All Guests:

After breakfast, the entire group will spend the day at Hluhluwe-imfolozi Park. Engage with the rich biodiversity and possibly spot the Big Five before returning to the train for a relaxing evening and dinner.

Day 11

Eswatini & Nkonyeni/Royal Swazi - Cultural Richness and Pristine Fairways

Non-Golfers:

Visit Swazi Candles and Mantenga Cultural Village in the Kingdom of eSwatini for a dive into the culture and craftsmanship, with lunch included in the excursion.

Golfers:

Golfers will have the opportunity to play at either Nkonyeni or Royal Swazi, enjoying lunch there and the beautiful landscapes before tea time on the train.

Day 12

Kruger Park & White River/Mbombela - Wilderness Treks and Elite Courses

Non-Golfers:

A thrilling game drive in Kruger National Park awaits, where you might encounter an array of wildlife. Enjoy meals and shopping for curios before returning to the train.

Golfers:

Golfers will take a transfer to either White River Country Club or Mbombela for a day on the greens in these idyllic locations, punctuated by a lunch break and concluding with an evening on the train.

Pretoria - Journey's End

Overnight Flights home - Qantas
